Who operates Fylogia
Fylogia is a personal, open-source news and magazine reader operated from Oman. No registration, email or password is required for local reading.
Your local library
Preferences, sources, saved stories, reading history, bookmarks and progress are saved in your browser. Permitted offline downloads and imported PDFs remain on that device. They remain until you delete them or the browser clears or evicts its storage. Export and deletion controls are available in Settings. Exported backup files are your responsibility; password-protected backups are encrypted.
Approximate country for Local News
When you open Local News, the hosting network supplies an approximate country inferred from your internet connection. Fylogia requests only its two-letter country code, not your IP address, coordinates, city or device language. It does not request GPS permission, store a location history, or send detected country to your cloud library. The country is held in memory for this browser tab, refreshed when needed, and may be inaccurate with mobile networks or relays. Unknown locations receive a link to worldwide coverage.
The country lookup does not send your device-sync cookies and is not cached by Fylogia's service worker. Your manually selected news region remains independent and does not change when you travel. A country match is an editorial aid, not authorization to distribute publisher content. Older local/cloud libraries and backups may retain a manually chosen country for compatibility; that value no longer controls Local News.
Optional private device synchronization
Only if you enable sync, Cloudflare stores a private, pseudonymous profile with device records, interests, followed sources, saved-story links, bookmarks, reading history/progress, appearance and Daily Edition metadata. Publisher article bodies, photographs, downloaded publications and private PDF uploads are not uploaded to this cloud library. Private access is controlled with secure device cookies and one-time pairing/recovery mechanisms. Device identifiers and reading records can still be personal information even without an email address.
Cloud sync uses encrypted connections and access controls; it is not end-to-end encrypted. You can revoke devices or delete the cloud library from its controls. Local copies on other devices are independent. Device credentials expire after one year; this does not automatically delete the cloud profile. Pairing codes and pending recovery-confirmation proofs expire after five minutes. A saved recovery key remains valid until rotated or the cloud profile is deleted. Short-lived, salted network-derived rate-limit records help prevent abuse; the application does not store raw IP addresses in these records. Expired records are cleaned in bounded maintenance batches.
Hosting and publishers
Cloudflare processes ordinary connection and security information to deliver this website and its optional sync service, and may process website performance telemetry. Hosting and storage can involve processing outside Oman. Loading publisher photographs, RSS feeds or original publications connects to those providers, who receive ordinary connection information under their own policies. Opening an original article takes you to its publisher. Fylogia does not bypass paywalls or infer republication permission from public accessibility.
Optional custom-feed converter
If you enable the RSS converter in source settings, your custom feed URL is sent to rss2json.com, which processes the request under its own policies. Direct custom feeds instead connect to the publisher. Never add private URLs or URLs containing credentials. This option is not required for the built-in news catalog.
Summaries
Summaries are requested only when you press Summarize. The current reader uses an on-device browser capability if available, otherwise extracts passages locally. Fylogia does not send article bodies to a paid external AI service for this feature.
Support and legal review
Project repository and public support. Do not post private library exports, reading history, pairing codes or recovery keys in public issues. You can export or delete your data using the application controls. A dedicated confidential privacy-contact channel and formal operator disclosures still require completion and professional review. This notice describes the current MVP and does not assert that technical controls establish compliance with every applicable law.
